Adopt-A-Family for Christmas

The 2011 Adopt-a-Family was a great success due to the many generous people in our community.

By November 17 we were able to accept 119 requests from families that needed help making Christmas beautiful for their children.  November 18th all of the children and elderly were matched and adopted by very caring people of this wonderful giving community.   We would like to express our gratitude to everyone for helping FISH help the families of Elko.

Merry Christmas to All!

This Christmas, when you are putting up your tree, buying gifts and wrapping them, making fancy dinners and spending time with family remember those who are not so fortunate. Many people are struggling to make ends meet for their day-to-day lives, let alone adding Christmas to the mix.

If you are fortunate to have all you need and can afford to do a little more, why not help those who do not have it so good? Everyone gets down on their luck sometimes, but it’s very hard when it’s Christmas and you have a family. Small children especially don’t understand when Santa doesn’t pay them a visit. Adopting a family is rewarding for you and will make the recipient happy too.

Each year, Friends in Service Helping’s Christmas Adopt-a-Family program coordinates the giving of new clothes, toys, food and other items to low-income families. Over the years, the program has allowed an opportunity for many selfless and compassionate people in the community to share in the holiday spirit by adopting low-income families with children, or seniors on fixed incomes. Without the support of so many and the tireless energy of so many volunteers, so many in our community would experience much less happiness during the holiday season. To become a part of this program ~  Click Here!
