“To whom it may concern;
My name is Michael”Scotty”Elzea. On April 29,2011 I left Reno Nevada with nothing more than the clothes on my back and my bicycle. Three days and 300 miles later (with the help of a couple rides including the sheriffs) I arrived in Elko Nevada. I started without a penny in my pocket. The first two days were spent hoovering over a camp fire in the desert, on the third day I arrived at F.I.S.H. (Friends in Service Helping) and this is were it all began. A hot shower and a hot meal was a welcome offer. After talking to Maria at the service window she told me about the Samaritan House (or what they consider the homeless shelter). Much to my surprise, this “homeless shelter “was a beautiful 5 bedroom home that was run by the some of the neatest ladies I’ve ever met (yes I mean you guys, Cristy,Sandy and Wendy) I can not say enough for these people, their programs and the help they’ve given me. I was out to get a new start in life and so far I’ve been here 24 days and this is what I’ve accomplished: Starting with no money, no I.D., basically nothing at all, I now have my Nevada state I.D., my social security card, food stamps, a full time job, a beautiful two bedroom home thanks to Al Steninger-my new employer and good friend. I also have my new cell phone, passed my college entrance exams, received my pell grant and will be starting the fall semester working on my degree in computer communications. I am absolutely speechless on a daily basis and although these people might not think they do much on an individual basis, I’m writing this to let you know, you do. And as a team, you all have given me a new chance at life and I will never ever be able to thank you enough. Susan, Monica, Maria, Diane, Connie, Cristy, Sandy, Wendy, you all are in my prayers and don’t think your good deeds aren’t recognized. Thank you all so very much.

Yours truly;
“Scotty”"
